Nikolaj Nikolajewitsch, russischer Philosoph und Literaturkritiker, * Belgorod 28. 10. 1828, ✝ Sankt Petersburg 5. 2. 1896; wandte sich gegen die in Literatur und Kritik tonangebende Linke der 1860er-Jahre, gegen Utilitarismus und Sozialismus und verfocht eine nationalrussische, von der Orthodoxie mitgeprägte »Bodenständigkeit«. Schon früh würdigte er F. M. Dostojewskij und L. N. Tolstoj (»Kritičeskij razbor, Vojny i mira'«, 1871).
 
Weitere Werke: Mir kak celoe (1872); Bor'ba s zapadom v našej literature, 3 Bände (1882-96); Iz istorii literaturnago nigilizma, 1861-1865 (1890).
